Microgravity Research Rideshare: Launch Experiments to Space and Back from €6K/Sample with GEN Reentry Capsules from Genesis Space Flight Laboratories
Cakovec, Croatia - 2nd Jan, 2026 - Genesis Space Flight Laboratories has launched its Microgravity Research Rideshare Program, making retrievable microgravity research faster, simpler, and more affordable for scientists and innovators worldwide.
Built around its compact GEN spacecraft with a pressurized research module, the program enables multiple launches per year, beginning with six- to nine-month flights to Sun-Synchronous Orbit (SSO) in 2026, alongside short microgravity missions on upcoming suborbital test flights.
Sample Highlights Aboard GEN
GEN serves a wide range of customers across life sciences, environmental research, and medicine. Onboard, experiments include engineered living materials and fungal biofilms from InnoRenew CoE, algae from the University of Ljubljana, soil microorganisms and samples from the University of Debrecen, seed studies from institutions such as the Orion Space Generation Foundation and the Research Nature Institute, and human genomic, (DNA) research from individuals and SpaceABC.

Payload Options & Pricing
The rideshare program can accommodate any small sample in vials, active agar experiments, or materials that fit within cells measuring 4?mm in diameter by 2?mm in height.
- Passive samples start at €6,000 per sample and are ideal for materials or biosamples that are analyzed before and after flight, without requiring in-orbit measurements.
- Active experiment slots start at €12K per sample, including two-way communications and regular research and telemetry data. The GEN spacecraft features 10-bit infrared sensors to monitor biomass growth, chlorophyll variations, and overall sample health using a simplified infrared scale similar to NDVI measurements.
- Full Capsule: Reserve an entire mission exclusively for your research. Use our IR sensors to monitor up to 25 biological or material samples per flight, or integrate your own custom Research Module. Maximum dimensions for your module are 4.5 × 4.5 × 1 cm, powered at 3.3 V from the spacecraft bus.
- On-Orbit Marketing Visibility: Businesses and sponsors can opt for logo placement on the exterior of the GEN capsule, visible to onboard and Earth-observation cameras throughout the mission. Images and short videos featuring the sponsor’s logo with Earth as the backdrop are regularly downlinked and made available for marketing, communications, and brand storytelling. You can get an idea of how your logo will look from the camera view in this animation.
All payloads include integration services, full mission ground support, recovery attempts, and reflight insurance.
Our Reflight Policy
In the event of a complete mission failure, such as loss of telemetry, research data, or sample recovery, a replacement flight will be provided at no additional cost on the next available mission.
How to Book
To reserve a slot on upcoming GEN flights, or to arrange logo placement on the capsule, complete the Request Form on our Rideshare page. Also request the Research Rideshare Brochure and Services Specifications there. Once a request is reviewed, we will make contact with all the necessary contracting documents.

Timeline
Scheduled missions include a Q1 2026 suborbital short flight, Q2 2026 nine-month SSO missions, Q3 suborbital test flights, and Q4 2026 multiple GEN spacecraft launches to SSO. In 2027, suborbital and longer SSO missions will continue with upscaled reentry vehicles.
After reservation, a sampling kit will be sent based on your research. Samples should arrive at our build facility at least 60 days before launch. For ultra-sensitive payloads, last-minute launch-pad integration is available for an additional fee.
About Genesis Space Flight Laboratories
Genesis designs and builds small reentry vehicles and satellites. Its debut flight on SpaceX Transporter 14 carried over 980 biological samples, mainly from European researchers. A seed investment round from Fil Rouge Capital launched the GEN reentry program, and within six months, flight-ready capsules and satellites were ready for commercial use.
