About the Author Joan Long

Born and raised in a farming community in North Carolina, Joan Longs love for literature began early. A proud Randleman High School graduate and class Salutatorian (1949), she nurtured her passion for writing through school papers, church plays, and storytelling for her children.

After moving to Chapel Hill in 1959home of the University of North CarolinaJoan deepened her craft through English courses at UNC. Under the guidance of her writing instructor, author Manley Wade Wellman, she was encouraged to pursue authorship. Through her Christian writers' group, she finally penned Depart From Evil, a reflection of her faith, life experience, and conviction about the unseen spiritual battles believers face.
