About the Author
Doris A. Gast was born in Gary, Indiana, and currently resides in Michigan City, Indiana. Deeply connected to her family’s Kentucky roots, she spent many childhood summers playing and working on her grandfather’s farm in the Appalachian foothills. A proud U.S. Army veteran, Gast served four and a half years in Alabama and Germany before beginning a 37-year career with the State of Indiana. She is the mother of seven children, grandmother to twelve, and great-grandmother to one great-grandson.
Gast’s passion for storytelling began at the age of eighteen, inspired by her mother’s love of books. Her first novel, Sugar Camp—published under the pen name Belle Estep—was born from years of dedication and imagination carried through countless notebooks and across continents.
